The surprise of the CSF exhibition 2015: the launch of a new brand patterns : I am patterns !!!!
I love the concept would be that the name déclinable a lot such as its models … Timeless cuts, totally in link with the trends and every time the detail with which fun for all sewing Addict who will the uniqueness of your model ;)))
For this first collection I am patterns, I chose Aphrodite dress by I am patterns and Pan shirt for cutting, originality, and especially the variations;)))
I started by Aphrodite dress by I am patterns because once the pattern in hands I had an obsession: what fabics and especially for the back yoke so generous (because I like what it is suggested once the necessary for me to opt for a backfull )?
So I chose this fabric: the caviar taffeta by Balenciaga unearthed in L’étoffe des héros (required to connect at the opening of the sale because it goes at breakneck speed) and a black pleated matching bonus for that famous yoke back. In fact, I secretly dreamed of working wrinkled but until now I had not found the right model!
Level: Intermediate – Timing : 3 hours – Cost : €€€
As the beginning, I wanted to focus on the form and content of pocket patterns I am patterns . This is a point that I enjoyed for several reasons: A sleek pocket without flourish fully consistent with the concept, the feeling touch of distinction “gold” refined, most of the information is present, … and especially the tutorial is cleverly folded and I found the idea because the key elements are there;)))
After this aside, the Aphrodite dress by I am patterns has a clean cut and generally easy to execute. The key step will be the making of the back yoke and you will have to show even more meticulous if you opt for a pleated fabric associated with the fluidity of taffeta.
Anyway I risked to choose two particularly difficult fabrics to tame the pleated but I do not regret because the combination of the two ideally meets this large back piece.
After having asked to back the pleated sides without stretching, stitching are key indeed they perfectly keep your yoke and will provide beautiful finishes.
Once this step, you will do more than make up the sleeves and hem.
In conclusion, I am delighted with the result because Aphrodite dress by I am patterns has a timeless cut while providing great freedom back, something fun with the two fabrics. Thus taffeta and pleated fabric delivers a “chic” and “suggested” style ;))))
