That’s a while since the beautiful printed “Tigers” jersey by The Sweet Mercerie reminded me the good memories … Why so much time has passed? Determine the correct model and especially a first for me: jersey !!! Better handling and better my second friend after Juki sewing machine: my serger, it was also the opportunity to experience this elastic fabric.
Level : Intermediate – Timing : 3 hours – Cost : €€
There are some fabrics which pursue you but this time disturbed me either determine the “right” part, see “right” dose of “Tigers” print. In fact, I never imagined printed on the entire garment too heavy for my taste.
So, I thought immediately Bi materials dress, what better than a plain black jersey equivalent thickness also value this form;)))
For cutting, I preferred a high sleeves “bat” to give scale to the printed and comfort. For the skirt, I wanted to balance the top with a slightly tight effect.
Again I thought the patterns Aime comme Marie and the two versions dresses materials made on the basis of the Must Have pattern by Aime comme Marie (Halo brown Dress or Birds dress). And this time, I chose the Aime comme Minute for its flared sleeves and neck for the top.
As for the skirt, I measured my hips (the largest width) and directed two front pleats and 2 others back, same exercise on the top so as to achieve a cinched waist.
It is important to make identical folds on the top and the skirt in order to have a true continuity.
For more holding (even on a jersey), I sewed bias on the collar which has also the advantage of remember the skirt;))) In addition, I decided to sew the edges of the coast sleeves for a more beautiful finish sleeves (jersey is very fluid) … Also a black key additional reminder.
Tip: To achieve preferably with a serger: fast and convenient to deal with the elasticity of jersey;))) If you can use a zig zag point from the sewing machine.
